Jonathan Pesek
Cellist
Born in Germany, Jonathan Pesek studied the cello with Klaus-Peter Hahn and Marino De Secondi.
After intense concert activity with the romantic repertoire, he turned to his current passion, historical practice.
He undertook baroque cello studies at the Schola Cantorum in Basel with Christophe Coin.
At the same time he studied gamba with Rebeka Ruso. During his studies he notably worked with Chiara Banchini, Gerd Türk, Andreas Scholl, Jörg Andreas Bötticher and Jesper B.Christensen.
Jonathan Pesek is a founding member of the early music ensembles l'Ornamento and il Profondo.
Numerous recordings on labels such as Pan Classics, Mirare, Nibiru, SWR and Deutsche Grammophon are available.
He created with Chani and Nadja Lesaulnier and the Pizzicanti Ensemble the series "Musik kommt zu Ihnen" in Solothurn and Basel Countryside.
Jonathan Pesek has taught at Musikhochschule Freiburg and HMDK Stuttgart.
