Born into a family of musicians, Constantin Macherel began studying his instrument with Marc Jaermann and Susan Rybicki-Varga at the Lausanne Conservatory where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in 2012. The same year he was accepted into the class of Ivan Monighetti at the Musik-Academie of Basel (Master of Performance 2014). From 2014 to 2018 he perfected his skills in Zurich at the Hochschule Zürich in the class of Raphael Wallfisch. Constantin is the winner of several competitions and supported by several Swiss foundations, such as Irène Denéréaz, Casino Barrière Montreux, Concours Nicati de Luze, Fritz Gerber Stiftung, Schenk Stiftung für junge Solisten. In 2013 he won the Leenards Foundation grant encouraging young artists. Constantin Macherel mainly performs as a soloist and in recital in Europe in series and festivals such as Lavaux Classic, Musique et Prodige, Ensemble en Scène, WEMP festival, Crystal Palace Festival, Appledoorn Chamber Music Festival, the tribune of young musicians RTS. As a soloist, he collaborates among others with the London Mozart Players, Geringas Chamber Orchestra, St. Petersburg Taurida State Orchestra, Aarau Sinfonie Orchester, Karlsbad Sinfonie Orchester. In 2019, the Claves Records label released his CD for cello and strings with the London Mozart Players: Virtuoso music for cello. Very well received by international critics, Diapason magazine rewarded it with 5 Diapason and it was broadcast on radio stations including France Musique, RTS/SRF, Finnish national radio as well as RAI Classica and Bayerischer Rundfunk. As a chamber musician he performs with Cédric Pescia, Gerard Wyss, Frederic Bager, Isil Bengi, Guillaume Hersperger, Martijn Willers, Ilan Gronich, Caroline Melzer, Francois Benda, Nurit Stark etc. Constantin Macherel plays a historic English cello by Joseph Hill dating from around 1765.
